I read a few reviews from others who said some of the objects in the HOPs were very hard to find. I don't necessarily disagree, but I managed alright. The bigger complaint for me was that the (very) few puzzles that were not HOPs were all the exact same--either a spinning lock kind of deal, or a matching game. More variety--and for that matter, difficulty--in those puzzles would have improved the game for me. I still ultimately enjoyed it, though. I am upset at the ending, especially considering there isn't any word as yet on a sequel, but this game isn't any worse than any other point-and-click, hidden object adventure game I have played. It's certainly not any better by any means, but it's not worse.. I really wish I could give this game a mixed review and not just a thumbs up or a thumbs down. It was certainly interesting, the plot was fun and the concept was great.However playing it often times felt tedious. The puzzles were often recycled and in the hiden picture scenes it could be almost impossible to find hidden objects due to their color or location. The game clearly wanted you to use the magnifying glass the provide you with to find those objects, but again it just seems tedious. I wish I could give this game a stronger recomendation based on the plot alone, but the way the game ends on a huge cliff hanger with no sequal currently available prevents me from doing so.While I recomend this game if you are in to puzzle/hidden object games I'm glad I got it at the sale price instead of paying the full $5. Fun! Very short gameplay but still fun.. I'm so disappointed by this game not only did it have a meh story but the gameplay.. oh god the gameplay. For a HOG it's okay it does it's game keeps you playing with puzzles and HO games. The problem is the HO games are boring always darkily lit and not interesting. Another problem is that sometimes the items will be in the background but they won't be noticable unless you play on Normal. It's the first game in a while I had to pass on Advanced. Also thank god for the lack of achievements so I don't have to try for that. Also if all these problems weren't bad enough the game ends on a Cliffhanger. So even if your enjoyed the story it doesn't get resolved.. Visually top notch, unusual storyline, and intriguing setting. Biggest problem? The hint system is under-developed. If you're not going to give enough clues directly, you need to have at least a hint system robust enough to steer you to the right room without needing a recharge.that said, I can definitely reccomend this game despite that large flaw - the story is definitely different, the animation is well-done, and the HOG are incredibly well-detailed as well as authentic to the rough time period the game lingers in.. I've giving this a "no," even though I want to give it a "maybe" or a "yes."As a HOG. it's very good. The graphics are outstanding, including the HO scenes. The music and sound effects fit the theme well, and the story, while nothing special, is enough to keep you playing. The game tries some interesting departures from traditional HOGs with some minor spell crafting involved.The reason I'm split about this game, even though I thought it was good, is that the version on Steam is missing a chapter which takes place during the story before you reach the finale. Why the chapter is not included with the Steam version or wasn't included (was removed) in the original game is beyond me. The HO scenes are well detailed, fairly difficult, but the developer thought it was a good idea to include a strong light source in "every" scene, causing lens flare, which can be difficult on the eyes, and then thought it would be a good idea to hide objects within that flare forcing you to stare at the light source to try and find them. The game is of average length for a HOG but ends abruptly with a "to be continued," and there's no sign of a sequel yet, so you don't even get a conclusion to the story.It's a solid HOG, but if you want the complete experience, try to buy the special edition somewhere, and wait until there is a sequel and the story continues before starting what is merely just the first chapter.. I actually rather liked this game. The inventory and craft aspects of the game were well done. For me it's all about story. Iplay a TON of HOGs and if it sucks me in, to the point of 'marathon'ing it, so to speak, it's a good game. This was one of those. Unfortunately it ends much sooner than I'd like, and hints at a continuation that I'm not sure is ever coming. That's the only downside of this game for me.
